How to connect to an FTP account with an FTP Client

Setting up your FTP client (FileZilla)

For this one, we will be using the “FileZilla FTP Client” but you can use other FTP clients you wish to use. To connect to your FTP account you need the following informations, Hostname, Username, Password and Port number (default is 21). You can find these informations from cPanel main screen, click on the FTP Accounts under the Files category. Then click on “Configure FTP Client”. See the image below.

On the FileZilla FTP Client, enter your Hostname, Username, Password and Port number then click on “Quickconnect”.

Login to your cPanel account. (Don’t know how to login to your cPanel account? Click here)
From the category Files, click on “FTP Accounts”.

Once inside the FTP Accounts page, enter the informations required for the account creation. You can also use the “Password Generator” for system generated password. Then click on “Create FTP Account” button.

When using the “Password Generator”, click on the “Advanced Options” to choose which characters you wanted to use on the system generated password. Tick the box for “I have copied this password in a safe place.” after you copy the password that is generated. Click on “Use Password” button once done. The password will automatically populate on the password field.

Login to your cPanel account. (Don’t know how to login to your cPanel account? Click here)

From the category “Files” within the cPanel Home Screen, locate and click on the “FTP Account”.

Once inside the FTP accounts screen, navigate to FTP accounts section and click on “Change Password”.

You will then see the new password fields and can continue typing in your desired password.

Kindly follow the requirements for the password to be entered on the fields. (Highlighted on the image below.)
